Today I have a super fun Jar Lantern project to share with you that I know you'll love. Old jars are not that hard to come by and some of you probably have a few hiding around the house anyway! I scored mine at my favorite antique store downtown Owosso- Treasures. The name is suiting as it is literally full of little treasures waiting to be found by me.
I was totally inspired by this idea discovered on Pinterest (admit it- you're addicted too) and I just HAD to recreate my own version to share with you! These jar lanterns can be placed anywhere you want them. A porch, patio, awning, or even in a tree (summer wedding??? HELLO. Soo cute). For the time being I found a perfect spot on my front porch for these babies. However, we are in the process of completing a nice little patio behind the house and when that's finished they may get a new home back there. :)
DIY Jar Lanterns:
For starters, I have a huge bag full of unique rocks that Ben and I scooped up while swimming at the beach in Cinque Terre, Italy. We were so smitten by these beautiful little rocks that we just had to squeeze them into our already over-stuffed suitcase and bring them home with us. Needless to say, they have finally been put to good use in these gorgeous lanterns. I was like "Hmmm.... what do I fill these jars with?" and then came that moment when I felt like 'Gru' from Despicable Me-- "Lightbulb!!" The jars are a perfect fit for these special rocks.
|This is where the rocks came from. And yes, I took this picture. It was a long hike up! I miss Italy.|
First you will want to start by picking out some cute jars for the project. I found a beautiful vintage green jar at the antique store! Here's a peek a my jars:
Next fill your jars with whatever contents you prefer. Suggestions: Rocks, shells, sand, buttons.
Here's a peek at what you'll need to hang them: Twine (sticking with the 'old feel'), key chain rings, & for the inside: candles!
Hang them & light them!
All done! A perfect addition to the front porch. Jar lanterns are The Bee's Knees!
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Thank you so much for reading, and if you are enjoying these posts then please share the Bee's Knees with your friends today! Let's spread the love.
See you back here next week!
