Sephora + Pantone Color of the Year: Tangerine Tango

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Hi friends!

Well, are you excited for this blog? I know I am! I hope you all had the chance to watch the video I posted in yesterday's blog. If not you might want to do that when you get a chance, it's great.

Today we're going to take a look at Sephora's exquisite "Color of the Year" and yes, there will also be a tutorial on how to wear it! Sephora and Pantone Universe teamed up to create a spectacular color that is evenly flattering on all types of skin tones- Tangerine Tango. The minute I received my first email from Sephora announcing this amazing color I started making plans to buy it & review it for all of my lovely followers.

If you're interested in trying a new & fun color this year- try Tangerine Tango. You won't be disappointed.

Let's get down to business!

Sephora + Pantone Color of the Year:
Tangerine Tango

There are 'several' different ways to wear Tangerine Tango. At Sephora it's available in blush, lip gloss, nail polish, eyeliner, lipstick, and of course- eye shadow. Because I'm a believe that the eyes 'make' the look- I purchased the shadow.

A while back I reviewed Sephora's new Prisma Chrome eye shadow (click here to see it) and I'm happy to announce that they carry several shades & variations of Tangerine Tango in their Prisma Chrome line! These shadows are unique because they are highly pigmented and you can apply them wet or dry. I recommend applying them wet and then following up with a layer of dry to set the look. That is my personal preference and I seem to get the best results that way. That is what I chose to do in this tutorial and I hope you enjoy!:::

The color of the year:

First you start by priming your eye as usual. ALWAYS prime your eyes. Then cover the entire lid with a very soft neutral color (not pictured). After this you are going to add the Tangerine Tango by patting in onto your eyelid and up into the crease. When you finish it should look something like this:

Next, for this look I added a hot pink winged line. You can achieve this look by using a liner brush to apply the pink where you want it and then fill in the line completely with the hot pink color:

Take a black liner and line under both eyes. Smudge it with a makeup sponge to soften the look:

To soften the liner even more, apply a dusting of the Tangerine Tango over the black liner:

To complete the look, fill in eyebrows and apply two coats of Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara in blackest black:

Here are the brushes I used to achieve this look:
And last but not least, here is the pink used to create the winged effect on the ends of the eye:
(You can always get away with a few cheap eye shadows if you use a great primer!!)
Have a wonderful day everyone! As usual, I have a hundred more things to do today so I've gotta run. :)
I'll see you back here on Friday. You won't want to miss Friday's blog- it's going to be fun.
