DIY Ombré Scalloped Shorts

Friday, July 27, 2012

Welcome to the LAST installment of Ombré Week here at The Bee's Knees!
Who has an old pair of shorts or pants that they would like to refashion? Well get them ready because today we're going to crop, scallop, and dye them into something marvelous!

I've had this old pair of Gap Bermuda shorts sucking up space in my closet for far too long and I decided it was time to breath new life into these babies.

For this project I used the same dyeing method as I did in the DIY Ombré Tee tutorial from earlier this week, so please click the link to see how to create this effect. And as always, if you have any questions whatsoever, just leave me a comment. Actually, leave me a comment anyway because I just LOVE hearing from you fabulous people!

DIY Ombré Scalloped Shorts

Lay shorts flat on a table and scallop them using a sharp pair of scissors.

After scalloping both sides you will need to try them on and make sure that both sides are even. It took me a few minutes to get both of them to line up.

Hang the shorts with a hanger and get them ready for dyeing.

Begin spraying the bottom of the shorts, saturating them heavily with the dye. As you get closer to the top spray lighter and lighter.

Now you will want to let the shorts dry COMPLETELY with the dye on them. After this, rinse them well in the sink until most of the dye is out. Finally, throw them in the washer and wash as usual (preferably by themselves as the dye is potent!).

Wear them!! I wish the color was more bold, but nevertheless, I LOVE theses shorts!

The back.

More hair updates!! It's no secret that I'm pretty stoked about my hair getting longer. I've been waiting a long time for this moment folks. ;) I tried curling my hair today for the first time in a long time and it actually works! Whew... soo excited to embrace the noodles once more. Check it out::::

And if you're wondering, the top is from Love Culture. I snagged it for $6.00! Yippie! Don't you adore polka dots?

Okey dokey.... That's it for me today. I wish you all a great weekend! Thank you (from the bottom of my heart) for reading.
