My love and I went camping 'way' up in northern Michigan in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake shore area. Ben had never seen the dunes so it was great to have the privilege of introducing him to thousands of acres of white sand. :)

To me there is nothing better than connecting with 'nature' while breathing in fresh air, cooking over a fire, exploring, biking, and spotting wildlife. Here is a picture of a little friend I made over the trip. He's eating a strawberry I gave him:

One of our favorite parts of the trip was the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive- a 7(ish) mile drive through woods & dunes - fully equipped with several lookout points.
While spending some time in a small lake town (Empire), we came across this 'adorable' little ice cream shop called Tiffany's. It was here that I discovered my new ice cream flavor fetish- Eskimo Kiss. Basically an Almond Joy in hand dipped ice cream form. YUM! It was a delightful splurge. Here is the exterior of the ice cream shop. Isn't it cute?

Empire was full of delightful surprises as we also stumbled upon a sublime little beach that was excellent for swimming and catching some pretty sweet waves! Good thing we had our body board with us.
We couldn't go all the way to Sleeping Bear Dunes and not conquer a dune climb, so we tackled the 1,024 foot monster at its best. Fun times, until you realize that you are half way to the top with no water. Yeah, about that. Luckily we had two apples in our sacks so I munched away trying to suck every drop of juice from that baby- as pictured below.

This is called camp smarts! If you're going to drink coffee, do it in style...
We just boiled some water on our camp stove and - pronto! French press coffee.
