How To: Styling Curly/Textured Hair- Naturally!

Friday, May 31, 2013

Hi fellow texture heads! Welcome to curl school 101.

Today we're talking about styling your wavy locks- naturally! The information I'm sharing with you today radically transformed my naturally curly hair world, so obviously I'm excited to share it with you.

I feel like most wavy gals either love, hate, or have no idea what to do with their mop top. Lucky for you- I know the curl master, and I'm going to introduce you to her in just a moment. But first- let's talk about how I'm stylin' these days...

The Products:
I have a few favorite products that I alternate between for no-heat, on-the-go curl styling. Here they are:
Aveda 'Be Curly' Curl Enhancer
EXCELLENT product here, people. This is one of my top go-to products that I use on a daily basis. Just get out of the shower, lightly towel dry your hair, apply some Be Curly, and you're good to go! I don't know how many times I've used this method if I'm running behind in the mornings. And- oddly enough, some of my favorite hair days happen when I'm rushed. Weird?

Moroccanoil Curl Defining Cream
Another amazing curl definer right here. Moroccanoil tends to be a bit more pricy but the smell is to die for and the results are beautiful. I feel like this product 'and' the Aveda Be Curly work about the same, honestly.
Aveda Be Curly Curl Enhancing Spray
This curl defining hair spray is 'amazing' and particularly wonderful for day 2 when you need a little 'help' reviving some volume and curl.

The Method:
The method behind styling curly hair is just as important as the product you're using.
I work at a wonderful salon a day a week called Hair Peace. One of the owners, Casey, has the curliest hair I have ever seen in my life (You'll see it in the video below)! I am amazed at how beautifully she styles her curls one day and the next she can be smooth and straight...
Isn't she beautiful??
Casey has a passion for educating women on how to style and 'rock' their natural waves. There's a lot I 'could' tell you but she says it WAY better in this short video below. Watch it and prepare to get 'schooled' -->

Aren't you so excited to wash & style your hair now!? I'm so grateful Casey agreed to let me host her on the blog today. Wasn't that educational?
Here is a peek at how my hair looks before and after using this method:
Before: Wet, product applied
After: 'Almost' dry

That's all for me today friends! Wishing everyone a fabulous Friday and a great weekend...
