Bits of Spring Color

Thursday, March 13, 2014

Let me begin by saying- yesterday was not the best day. We seriously got about 7 more inches of snow, and after a few glorious days of spring warmth last week, yesterday just felt like death. Oh yeah, and I had to run errands in it. Not cool. And so over this.

I met up with Ben for lunch yesterday and he hugged me and spent time with me, assuring me that this will soon be over and that warmer days are coming. It's just amazing to me how frumpy weather in March can REALLY throw a curveball in my mood. After lunch and quality time with the hubs, I was reminded that God is in control, yes, even when the weather stinks and I'm having a bad day. And that He cares deeply about me even in the midst of all my, well, 'blah-ness'. God is bigger than my moods. In fact, by the time yesterday came to a close, I found myself in altogether great spirits. I'm glad I have a caring heavenly Father who carries me through the rough days.
Last week (as some of you saw on INSTAGRAM), I got these amazing new Wolverine 1883 oxfords in the mail and was beside myself with joy. They are a part of their new spring collection and they are shoe-perfection. The coral-orange(y) color makes me happy and my brain is already spinning with all the cool ways I can style these beauties.
With spring around the corner, I'm gradually adding more and more color back into my outfit rotations. I love bright scarves, socks, head scarves, and jewelry. Sometimes the right accessory is all you need! I've had this scarf from Forever 21 for a long time and I still love it. I paired it with some fun earrings from Francesca's and called it good. Oh, and bright lips of course. ;)

Funny story about bright lips: Last Sunday at church, one of the young girls came up to me and said - "Hey, where's that red lipstick you're always wearing?" Ha.. How funny that a 7 year old little girl noticed when I wasn't wearing my red lipstick?? Attentive, I'll give her that.

I was out thrifting the other day and found this Dooney and Bourke leather Happy Bag for $2.99!!! You guys, it's real. I couldn't believe it. D&B launched their 'Happy Bag' collection back in 2012 in a huge array of FUN colors. They originally retailed for $200 dollars and yours truly swiped one for $2.99. Which begs the question, if you're not thrift shopping yet, why?! Get out there, deals like this happen all the time.

Have a great day, friends!
