Last weekend Ben and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary! I can hardly believe how fast the time has gone. It definitely does 'not' feel like 6 years, but I'm oh-so grateful for them as they've been the best years of my life! Ben is such a good man and takes care of me like a champ.
Ben surprised me and swept me away for a romantic getaway in Luddington, MI. We stayed at the Cartier Mansion and I just can't say enough about the accommodations, amenities, staff, and grounds. Impeccable service and overall a true luxury getaway. The best perk was the mansion's fleet of cruiser bikes that were free for guests to use. Luddington is a 'very' bike friendly town and we took full advantage of it.
The beaches... OH the beaches. Pristine white sand everywhere. We literally pulled over and parked on the side of the road, climbed over a sand dune, and jumped in the water! It was the perfect day for swimming and we even made it out to a sandbar about 40 feet off shore. I kind of felt like I was a kid again, getting rides in the water on Ben's back and squealing with excitement. I only wish I would have had a paddleboard as I'm sure I could have stayed out there for hours.
Exploring a nearby dam and hiking!
For dinner we rode our cruiser bikes down to this local Asian fusion restaurant and ate on the second floor patio overlooking the town. We shared lobster nachos that were loaded with cream cheese and other toppings. To finish things off, we each got a plate of sushi. It was so, so delicious and I couldn't stop thinking about how bad we need a place like this (with rooftop dining) in our town!
There's so much I could say about our time in Luddington but I'll leave it at this- it was a trip that left a forever mark on our hearts and we can't wait to get back and make even more great memories.
In other news- there are some fun changes coming to the blog this fall. I mostly took my liberties this summer and didn't spend much time blogging. It was good for me to unplug for a while. But I am 'so' looking forward to this fall season and the exciting things coming. The Bee's Knees is getting a grown up makeover soon that I'm really happy about (and it's 'way' overdue). This design has served its purpose but change is good.
Wishing you all a great week- what's left of it!
